BREAKDOWN & SCORING

TITLE / LOGLINE

In this category, Reps give you their initial reaction to your TITLE & LOGLINE.

  • It gauges how well it hits the unique factor and if it piques their actual interest.

  • They also glance over your Title Page to make sure it's properly written.

  • A great Title, Title page, and Logline could be the key to being green-lit and produced.

  • Your goal is to ensure the logline is an unbroken sentence two or three lines long.

CONCEPT / STORY

  • ︎The concept or premise is the one idea that the story is built around.

  • The concept is usually the focus of the Logline. It’s like a “what if” question that the story (plot) addresses and answers.

  • Without the concept, the plot wouldn’t be able to exist entirely.

PLOT / STRUCTURE

  • The plot is about the story itself, and the events that unfold throughout the script.

  • What happens in the story?

  • What happens to the characters?

  • How do the characters react?

  • What happens because of those reactions?

  • If the plot is about the story, then structure deals with how you tell the story.

  • The structure is the framework used to convey the plot.

  • The Score given is based on their initial impression of your plot and structure.

CHARACTER(S)

  • ︎Refers to the essence of a character, in the script, and how they are inside.

  • ︎ Is he or she a good person or a bad person?

  • ︎Moral and just or Maniacal and deceitful?

  • ︎Are they a fighter or a wimp?

  • ︎Character is the spirit of that person(s) you created in your mind.

  • ︎Your characterization is the quantifiable result of who they are.

  • ︎Your project should give the reader an impression of the type they are.

  • ︎The first impression of the character(s) is vital in keeping the reader intrigued

COST / POTENTIAL / VIABILITY

  • This area will assess the COST of the project/ Submission.

  • The budget is key to streamlining a project into being as effective as possible.

  • Cutting out unnecessary fat and posting a reasonable budget.

  •  A project would then be able to go on and proceed further into development.

  • This area also gauges the potential and viability of the project.

☆☆☆ HOLLYWOOD HAZARD SCORE ☆☆☆

SCORE INDICATION CHART

0% to 25% ■■□□□□□□□□□□

Indicates your project is NOT ready for market. Needs a lot of work. You have not spent enough time crafting your world based on your research and outline.

25% to 50% ■■■■■□□□□□□□

Indicates that there are still issues regarding the total outcome of your story.

You could do better to detail your project by finding that one thing missing overall.

50% to 65% ■■■■■■■□□□□□

Indicates there are some things within your project that are good and could potentially lead to something bigger. But something is not clicking or amiss.

65% to 85% ■■■■■■■■■□□□

Indicates that you have spent some quality time doing your research.

You developed your characters, but there's still room for improving your project.

85% to 95% ■■■■■■■■■■■

Indicates all of the previous things mentioned, and you have added a layer of "something" that was needed. Your project should be looked into by a producer.

95% to 100% ■■■■■■■■■■■■

Indicates all the people who read your project are head over heels about your project. Producers need to jump on it like a zombie on a brain. You are one of the best and should not be dismissed. You are one to look out for in the business.
